Behind words

About me.

«Being a translator means exercising the noble profession of communicating between people separated by linguistic barriers, total or partial, insurmountable for them.» - Valentín García Yebra.

Hi! I am María Gabarrón, the mind (and hands) behind Atamarie Translations. My fascination with languages didn't start in a dictionary, but in the pages of books that made me travel without leaving the sofa.

I specialize in literary translation, localization, and proofreading and editing, with a particular focus on genres such as fantasy, romance, and narrative fiction, complemented by formal training in biomedical, technical, and political translation. My ultimate goal is to preserve the true essence of your work, ensuring that every nuance—be it a joke, a metaphor, or a deliberate silence—carries the exact same resonance in Spanish as it does in the source language.

Education

My academic foundation began with a BA in English Philology, followed by an MA in Editorial Translation from the University of Murcia. This background has allowed me to perceive language not merely as a tool, but as a living, breathing organism.

Currently, I remain deeply engaged in the academic and research communities as a PhD candidate in Translation and Interpreting (UMU). My research focuses on how emotions influence the translation process, exploring vital areas such as accessibility, diversity, and gender representation within multimodal environments.
